Plumbing and the Internet.
The internet opens up a new world of information which is becoming more and more difficult to dismiss. The main advantage the internet offers is immediate access to company literature, and news from within the industry. It also makes it possible to openly discuss the products available on the market, to share knowledge, and to ask questions. With this information at one's fingertips, 24 hours of every day, it becomes much easier to learn about any given subject.
The DPS Heatweb site, located at http://www.heatweb.com, is a constantly growing base of information, with articles regularly posted on a variety of technical subjects and products. Questions put forward by visitors to the site are investigated and any useful information or products that DPS discover are added to the Heatweb library of information.
The Heatweb site allows DPS to present their entire product range in an extremely effective way. Literature can be viewed by anyone with internet access, and is updated on a day to day basis. The site enables DPS to add products to the range and make the details available to the public overnight, without the need to re-print catalogues. The Heatweb site ties products and technical information closely together.
To help visitors find their way quickly to information they are after, the Heatweb provides extensive search facilities. Simply typing a word or a phrase into the search box on the front page will provide the visitor with a list of all relevant documents on the site, making it extremely quick and easy to find specific information.
The Heatweb also provides a page of links to other company web sites, within the industry. Some of these sites may be searched through using the Heatweb's own advanced link-search facilities, allowing visitors to search through multiple web sites simultaneously for information required, without having to leave the Heatweb. This unique feature saves a great deal of time finding information from numerous sources, and makes the Heatweb the ideal 'first stop'. Additional sites are regularly added to this link / search facility.
Products are linked to related articles regarding installation and performance, and likewise, technical articles will in turn provide links to related products that may prove useful. For products not manufactured by DPS, there are links to the manufacturer's web site, where available, providing access to further information. Often product information will include the results of in-house testing by DPS, as well as details of field trials.
As a final bonus, the Heatweb also provides free software tools for builders, architects and heating engineers. The DPS Waterload Calculator is one such tool that can calculate the required volume of hot water storage based on a number of factors. Software is regularly updated with new features, and once again, suggestions are always welcome.
