"You what ?", I hear you cry. "You can't have a mains pressure tank, and who ever heard of wood ?" Thing again.
First off, the tank is an unpressurised Heat Bank thermal store, providing full mains pressure hot water, up to 9 bar. The fact that it is unpressurised allows the use of a rectangular tank, rather than a cylinder, with the end result being much better use of available cupboard space. The tank shown here is only 65cm wide, 60cm deep, and only 65cm tall, yet holds 150 litres of water. In other words, it will take up less than 1/3 of the cupboard space yet still provide enough hot water for a bath and shower at the same time, with water to spare. Secondly, the use of wood is only as an outer casing. The inner storage tank is stainless steel, with 40mm of insulation between it and the casing. The wooden casing is both cheaper and lighter than the equivalent metal cladding, and can also be painted. We are currently looking at various
finishes - varnished mahogany will cost extra.
