Installation of Solar System 3755

DPS Ref: 3755

Please refer to specification 3755-1 for key to reference numbers.
  1. Connect the Solar Panels to the Heat Bank Thermal Store, connecting the flow to the solar panel to the flow meter [54], and the hot return from the panel to [51].
  2. Ensure all connecting pipework, as well as the solar panels, are clear of air locks using air vents as appropriate.
  3. Flush all pipework.
  4. Check that the flow meter [54] is opened.
  5. Check isolating valve [4] next to the filling point [80] is open.
  6. Check the dosing pot connection [81] is closed.
  7. Connect a filling loop from a mains water supply to connection [80].
  8. Fill the solar system slowly to the required pressure, typically 1 bar.  A GAUGE MUST BE FITTED FOR THIS PURPOSE.
  9. Check that all air is properly vented from the system.
  10. Check that the system pressure holds at the desired pressure over a period of at least 5 minutes.  If the pressure drops continuously the check for a leak.
  11. Turn on power to the solar controller.
  12. Set up the programmer as per instructions.
  13. Balance the flow rate of the solar system using the flow meter [54].  Adjust to the required flow rate, typically 6 litres per minute.
  14. When operation of the system has been checked, anti-freeze should be added to the required level using the dosing pot connection and the filling loop connection.
    a) The dosing pot is connected between [81] and [80].
    b) The dosing valve [81] should be opened, and isolating valve [4] closed, to allow the pump to  circulate water through the pot.
    c) When all antifreeze has been introduced, close [81], open [48], and disconnect the dosing pot.
    d) Finally check that the correct system pressure is being maintained.
