Ask a question:

Compact - Problems with Ignition - Igniters

Solution

There has been an issue with the spark igniters because they cannot handle the high load of 240v which is common in the UK, as you are aware we have received a number of complaints owing to this issue.

Because of the voltage in the houses (250V and more) older sparkplugs can prematurely blow.

Officially, the UK mains is 230 Volts RMS +10% -6% (BS 7671 Appendix 2 section 14.)

So maximum one should design boilers for is 253v.

We are in line with your advice, all the boilers we are producing at the moment have in fact already inside this new Spark Plug which is mainly useful for the UK but anyway is now installed in all the boilers we sell. All the next deliveries will therefore include already the new code.
