From approximately mid-2013 the spare part replacement igniters that MCZ are supplying for the Compact boiler range have spade connectors at the two terminals of the wires, as opposed to bare wire. This is because they have made an alteration to new production Compact boilers: Instead of attaching the igniter wires directly onto the terminals on the motherboard, they are now fitting a pair of plugs to the motherboard terminals, into which the two spade terminals connect, the idea being that this enables the installation or replacement of the igniters to be a little easier.
However: as existing installed units do not have these plugs, the fitting of new replacement igniters will involve the engineer cutting off the spades and stripping back the insulation to bare the wires to then attach to the motherboard. A picture of the new style terminals is shown below:
